On July 24th, 2023, JLR India achieved its best-ever Q1 sales performance, witnessing an astounding growth of 102% by retailing a total of 1048 units in the first quarter of FY24, compared to the same period last year. This remarkable performance was primarily driven by an exceptional surge of 209% in sales for the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Defender models. These three models have consistently garnered significant demand, contributing to a remarkable 78% of the current order book.
Mr. Rajan Amba, Managing Director of JLR India, expressed his delight, stating, “JLR India has achieved record-breaking sales in Q1 FY24, with our volumes doubling compared to Q1 FY23. This success is a testament to the exceptional appeal of the JLR brands and our collection of modern luxury vehicles that lead the industry. He further emphasized the brand’s commitment to creating the finest modern luxury vehicles, emphasizing their unique design language and renowned all-terrain capability, which ensures world-class safety standards.
The launch of the New Range Rover and New Range Rover Sport in the second half of FY23, along with the overwhelming response to the Defender, contributed to an 88% growth in the order book for Q1 FY24 compared to the same period last year. The current order book now covers more than six months of sales and continues to witness a consistent increase month-on-month.
The JLR certified pre-owned business also experienced significant growth, up by 137% in the first quarter of FY24, reflecting the increasing demand and the strong equity of JLR brands in India.
Looking ahead, the company has an exciting lineup of product initiatives for the year, starting with the highly anticipated release of the enhanced Range Rover Velar, for which bookings have recently begun.
JLR has also recently unveiled its new corporate identity and House of Brands approach, which aims to highlight the distinct DNA of each JLR brand, including Range Rover, Defender, Discovery, and Jaguar, while accelerating the delivery of the company’s vision.
