New Delhi, April 3, 2024: Maruti Suzuki India Limited has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing the production of over 30 million units. This remarkable accomplishment includes manufacturing across the company’s Gurugram, Manesar (in Haryana), and Hansalpur (in Gujarat) facilities. Notably, the Indian operations have achieved this milestone in a record time of 40 years and 4 months since the commencement of production in December 1983.
Out of the total production, more than 26.8 million vehicles have been manufactured at the company’s facilities in Haryana, while Suzuki Motor Gujarat, a wholly owned subsidiary of MSIL, has contributed over 3.2 million vehicles.
The iconic M800, which spearheaded a mobility revolution in the country, has played a significant role in this milestone, with over 2.9 million units. Other noteworthy contributors include successful models like Alto 800, Alto K10, Swift, Wagon R, Dzire, Omni, Baleno, Eeco, Brezza, and Ertiga.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited has maintained its leadership position in the domestic market since its inception. The company’s success is attributed to its strong foundation, relevant products and technologies, extensive sales and service network, and robust supplier ecosystem. Commencing exports in 1987, the company now contributes nearly 40% to the total vehicle exports from India.
Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, dedicated this achievement to the unwavering support and loyalty of its customers. With the steadfast support of the agile workforce and value chain partners, the company has been able to meet customer needs effectively.
Emphasizing the commitment towards ‘Make in India’, Mr. Takeuchi announced plans to further invest and increase the annual production capacity to 4 million units by the fiscal year 2030-31. This will involve setting up two new greenfield manufacturing plants with a capacity of 1 million units each in Kharkhoda, Haryana, and Gujarat. Additionally, the company aims to expand its range of models from the current 18 to 28 by the fiscal year 2030-31.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited currently sells 18 models through NEXA, ARENA, and Commercial retail channels. Furthermore, the company exports its product range to nearly 100 countries globally.
