Leading the EV market with 85%* market share in the State
Kochi, June 24, 2023: Tata Motors, the leading automobile manufacturer in India and a pioneer in the country’s EV revolution, continues to experience significant growth in the state of Kerala, capturing an impressive 85% market share in the year-to-date period of CY23. The company’s portfolio is gaining increased acceptance in rural areas, with a notable growth rate of 34% in April 2023. This growth can be attributed to the rising awareness of EVs, the expansion of charging infrastructure, which now includes approximately 293 strategically located stations across cities and key highways. Furthermore, Tata Motors’ strong network, comprising 106 sales outlets and 22 Tata Authorized Service Setups, coupled with positive word of mouth from existing customers, has facilitated faster adoption.
The recent addition to Tata Motors’ EV portfolio, the Tiago.ev, has played a pivotal role in democratizing EVs and expanding their reach to new cities in India. It achieved remarkable success by becoming the fastest-booked EV, with 20,000 bookings made within just two days, and delivering 10,000 units in less than four months, making it the fastest EV in terms of delivery. Interestingly, the company has witnessed a surge in women buyers, surpassing the industry average by a factor of two, accounting for 24% of Tiago.ev sales. Additionally, approximately 25% of buyers were first-time car buyers who opted for an EV over an ICE car. The Tiago.ev has contributed to over 35% of total Tiago brand sales.
Tata Motors recently enhanced the Nexon EV MAX XZ+ LUX variant with superior and high-tech features. This top-of-the-line variant now features a 26.03 cm (10.25 inch) Touchscreen Infotainment system developed by HARMAN, offering a high-resolution (1920X720) High Definition (HD) display with responsive touch, Android Auto™ & Apple Carplay™ over WiFi, a High Definition Rear View Camera, improved audio performance with crisp notes and extended bass, and a Voice Assistant supporting six languages and offering over 180 voice commands. The User Interface (UI) has also been upgraded to enhance the overall user experience.
The Nexon EV, powered by the reliable Ziptron technology, continues to make remarkable strides, nearing the milestone of 50,000 units sold and covering an impressive distance of approximately 800 million kilometers. It has firmly established itself as India’s #1 electric vehicle, currently holding 26 records, including the achievement of being the Fastest EV to complete the Kashmir to Kanyakumari route, covering 4000km in under four days. The Nexon EV accounts for over 15% of total Nexon brand sales.
