Bangalore, 25th July 2023: Tresa Motors, a pioneering force in the electric vehicle market, has announced the appointment of Edmund Spitz as their new Chief Design Officer. Reporting directly to Rohan Shravan, Founder CEO, and CTO, Mr. Spitz brings a wealth of experience in global transportation design, having previously worked with prestigious companies such as BharatBenz, Daimler Trucks North America, and SAIC Innovation Centre.
In his role at Tresa Motors, Mr. Spitz will lead innovation-focused design teams, driving the company’s ambition to position India as a global leader in EV transportation solutions. With the Indian EV revolution at a tipping point, Tresa Motors aims to disrupt the commercial vehicle market by focusing on agility and adaptability to cater to the evolving needs of the market and consumers.
Mr. Spitz’s vision is to evaluate and optimize the entire commercial vehicle assembly chain, incorporating additional capabilities in robotics, AI, and 3D imaging to create more efficient trucks. Moreover, he aims to enhance the user experience for commercial vehicle operators through thoughtful design and engineering solutions, addressing an underserved market.
Drawing on his extensive experience, Mr. Spitz adopts a design philosophy of “Functional Minimalism,” aligning perfectly with the commercial vehicle space’s priority on functionality. His contributions at Daimler Truck, particularly in setting up the BharatBenz design studio in Chennai, India, have been particularly impactful in the country.
Prior to joining Tresa Motors, Mr. Spitz served as the Head of Transportation Design at Strate School of Design’s Bangalore campus and led a team of designers at the SAIC Innovation Centre in San Jose, California, focusing on developing Driverless Mobility solutions and experiences.
Mr. Spitz holds a Masters in Transportation Design Management from Institut Superieur de Design, France, which further complements his impressive credentials.
