#SaferIndiaOn2Wheels: Shaping Responsible Riders Through Education & Action
Over 750 Students Empowered with Road Safety Awareness at HMSI’s Summer Camp in Partnership with Hyderabad City Police
Hyderabad, 17 May 2025 — Every day, countless two-wheeler riders navigate India’s busy roads, making safety awareness and responsible riding not just a personal choice, but a public duty. From wearing helmets to obeying traffic rules and staying alert, safe riding is a shared responsibility—one that saves lives.
For Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), road safety isn’t a one-time campaign—it’s a mission. More than just spreading awareness, HMSI is committed to instilling lifelong safety habits, especially among the youth. Aligned with Honda’s global vision of achieving zero traffic fatalities by 2050, HMSI is cultivating a generation of responsible road users through extensive grassroots programs, interactive training, and continuous community engagement.
To date, HMSI has educated over 9.7 million individuals across India through consistent road safety initiatives. These efforts are further supported by 10 adopted Traffic Training Parks and 6 Safety Driving Education Centers across the country, fostering a culture of safe mobility—one rider, one session, one journey at a time.
A Step Toward Safer Roads: HMSI’s Summer Camp in Hyderabad
In partnership with the Hyderabad City Police, HMSI recently conducted a 6-day Summer Camp at the Hyderabad Traffic Training Park. The program saw enthusiastic participation from over 750 children aged 10 to 15 years, offering them an engaging introduction to road safety and responsible behavior on the streets.
Through hands-on learning, participants explored vital concepts such as traffic rules, pedestrian safety, and road etiquette. Real-time simulations inside the training park brought these lessons to life, helping children internalize safe riding practices from a young age.
Beyond traffic education, the camp offered a variety of self-development activities including self-defence, painting, dance, music, handwriting improvement, cartooning, and personality development, creating a holistic and impactful learning experience.
Building the Road to Zero Fatalities
This initiative is part of HMSI’s larger commitment to support the Government of India’s target of reducing road accident deaths by 50% by 2030. Through its CSR outreach programs, HMSI continues to actively engage communities and create a lasting impact on road safety.
Core Elements of HMSI’s Road Safety Training Programs:
- ✅ Classroom Sessions: Covering traffic rules, road signs, riding posture, and the importance of safety gear
- ✅ Virtual Riding Simulators: Offering over 100 real-world road scenarios for practical learning
- ✅ Kiken Yosoku Training (KYT): A specialized Japanese technique for risk prediction and hazard awareness
- ✅ Skill-Building Exercises: Including slow riding, narrow plank riding, and more to enhance control and confidence on two-wheelers
Every Ride Counts
At HMSI, we believe the journey to zero fatalities starts with people—not machines. And by empowering children today, we are paving the way for a safer tomorrow. Because zero is not just a number—it’s our destination.
